The latest Durango recall wasn't caused by faulty parts, but sheer incompetence. Dodge is positive that the side-curtain airbag fasteners work just fine but they may have been loosely installed or, in some cases, not at all!

Dodge continues to try and wiggle out of active head restraint lawsuits in court. Rather than address the plea to fix the restraints that keep randomly smacking people at the base of their skull, the lawyers point to technicalities in the case that don't hold up in the Arizona Consumer Fraud and Magnuson-Moss Warranty Acts.
Another approach Dodge could have taken–and hear me out here–is to try not being so hostile. For example, simply offering everyone with the same defective AHR a similar extended warranty that was given to some Durango owners late last year seems like a good place to start.

The active head restraints are, after all, deploying because Dodge and their parts supplier used a cheap plastic bracket to hold the AHR together.

Could a 5-Year-Old Dodge Dart Clutch Lawsuit Finally Be Ending? Maybe.

Could a wounded Dodge Dart clutch lawsuit finally be coming to an end? It's certainly been a wild-ride. The now five-year-old lawsuit says the clutch in the 2013-2015 Dart can drop and stay on the floor. Stellantis (formerly Fiat-Chrysler when the lawsuit started, formerly-formerly just plain ole' Chrysler) contends they addressed this problem with multiple service bulletins and customer satisfaction campaigns.

An attempt to start a nationwide class-action by multiple plaintiffs was denied certification in 2018. The case has since morhped into one plaintiff representing California residents with C635 manual transmission Darts built on or before 11/12/2014.

But the automaker took a recent blow as well as their request to limit any settlement to original owners only was denied because it would free of any significant damages if liability were found.

So where does that leave us? The chances of a settlement look good but no-one knows when that'll happen for sure. So the lawsuit lives on.

The Charger's interior door panels have been warping and peeling away from where they meet the window since the 2014 model year. And while some owners have been able to replace the issue under warranty there's a handful of major problems according to a new class-action lawsuit:

It takes so damn long because there's a national backorder for parts

It doesn't really matter because Dodge is just going to replace your defective panel with a new, but equally defective panel

Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) owners are worried that their vehicles may not pass the next state inspection.
Dodge is part of a new recall of Takata airbag inflators in over 350,000 vehicles. The recall is currently limited to areas of high humidity, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and the territories of American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, Saipan and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Chrysler says the vehicles have passenger frontal airbag inflators that are different from other metal Takata inflators used by other automakers.
Why Does the Grand Caravan Stall After Filling Up the Gas Tank?

Has your 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan engine ever stalled after filling up the gas tank? A petition filed last month to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) claims the van suffers from a gas tank defect.

To be fair, I tend to stall after a big turkey dinner as well, but car's aren't supposed to do the same thing. Yes, it's a double standard, Grand Caravan -- but them's the breaks.

NHTSA says not only will it look into the matter for the 160,000 Grand Caravans mentioned in the petition, but also any other Chrysler minivan with a similar gas tank design. This isn't the first time Chrysler vehicles have been under the spotlight for stalling engines after a getting a full tank of gas.

We'll let you know if anything comes of the investigation.

Unsurprisingly, stalling engines are a top complaint for the 2007 Grand Caravan but it's not the only issue owners are facing. There's problems with the tie rod ends, a smorgasbord of electrical issues and, well ... a whole lot else to take a look at it. Go ahead, I'll wait.

You back? I know it's a lot to take in, but now it's your turn to tell your car complaint story. If you've had a problem with your Grand Caravan tell us about it here. Your complaints help us collect data, monitor problem trends, warn other owners, find common solutions and sometimes even grab the attention of safety agencies. That's a lot of power in your hands.

"Let's take the truck for a spin" is taking on a whole new meaning for owners of the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. There are numerous reports of the rear differential locking up or the driveshaft separating due to loose pinion nuts, causing the truck to spin out of control. About half of the complaints happened at speeds over 50mph, leaving owners with both a mechanic and a dry cleaner bill (if you catch my drift).

Read more about the issue and the terrifying tales of owners.

An Investigation ∞

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigates safety issues with cars and trucks. Rear differential failure locking up the axle on the highway? Yep, definite safety issue. Driveshaft dragging on the ground? That qualifies as well. So it's no surprise that an investigation has been opened, here's a breakdown of what you need to know:

The investigation covers an estimated 260,000 Ram 1500 trucks from the 2005 model year

The investigation is preliminary and will determine if a defect exists, how widespread it is, and if a recall is needed

NHTSA has received 15 complaints, while CarComplaints.com has a couple similar stories on record.

While the investigation is ongoing, it's important to add your complaint if something similar has ever happened to you.

With a manual transmission, you shouldn't be able to start the engine without depressing the clutch first. It's a simple safety feature that 110,000 Dodge Ram trucks might be missing. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened an investigation, but owners who reported the problem years ago are wondering what took so long -- especially after a child sadly died when a truck's engine was started unexpectedly.

A faulty clutch interlock switch is possibly to blame for allowing the engine to crank when it shouldn't, but we won't know for sure until the investigation moves forward. The following trucks with manual transmissions are under investigation:

That leaves you with two options: drive home in the dark or face the wrath of every oncoming driver by using your high-beams.

Chrysler first learned of this problem in 2011 when some Charger police cars started having low-beam failures, leading to a recall. An investigation of the entire fleet was opened in November 2013 when additional complaints -- from non-Police vehicles -- started pouring in.

The recall is expected to begin this April. Chrysler dealers will replace the headlamp jumper harnesses and bulbs or possibly swap out the entire headlight assemblies.

Concerned owners can contact Chrysler at 800-853-1403 and give them recall number P08.
